In this two-part collection, Maria Cristina Arambel-Guiñazú and Claire Emilie Martin showcase Spanish writing from women in the 19th century. The first section of this text contains a critical examination of the evolution of feminine prose at a time when writing itself was undergoing reevaluation from both feminist and general writers. The second section, subtitled Antología (Anthology) and also available from Markus Wiener, contains a selection of texts that were rescued from oblivion or are otherwise difficult to access.
The Times Literary Supplement calls the collection “a predominantly psychological feminist perspective … interesting and strangely illuminating.”
